Poco M8 Pro review: Almost perfect

Pros

  • Exceptional battery life and fast 100W charging.
  • Bright and high-resolution curved OLED display.
  • Main camera captures good photos and 4K video for its class.
  • Solid mid-range performance with excellent thermal management.
  • Competitively priced for its feature set.

Cons

  • Extensive pre-installed apps and system-wide ads, including full-screen pop-ups.
  • Ultrawide camera produces soft images and is ineffective for video.
  • Storage is not expandable via microSD.
  • One promised OS update is consumed just to reach Android 16.
The Poco M8 Pro is a solid mid-range device offering a durable design, a great, bright OLED display, and exceptional battery life with rapid 100W charging. Its main camera and Snapdragon 7S Gen 4 chipset deliver decent performance for its class, making it a well-rounded option. However, the user experience is hampered by numerous pre-installed apps and pervasive system-wide ads, including full-screen pop-ups. Despite these drawbacks, the Poco M8 Pro offers a compelling value proposition, being akin to the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus at a much lower price point. Ultimately, if users can tolerate the bloatware and advertisements, the Poco M8 Pro stands out as a competitively priced mid-ranger with a lot to offer.
So that's the Poco M8 Pro. It's quite solid all around with a durable and nicel lookinging design, a great display, good speakers, and long lasting battery life. Even the chipset and cameras are decent for the class.
We're also happy to have basically the same phone as the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus at a much lower price. However, that does come at the cost of bloatware and ads sprinkled throughout the system.
If you can stomach those, the Poco M8 Pro is a competitively priced mid-ranger with a lot to offer.

POCO M8 5G & M8 Pro 5G Hands-On – 2026’s BEST Mid-Range Phones?!

Pros

  • Exceptional value for its price point.
  • Long-lasting 6,500 mAh battery with very fast 100W wired charging.
  • Large, bright 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display.
  • Durable screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
  • Responsive performance for gaming and everyday tasks with a new Snapdragon 7S Gen 4 chip.

Cons

  • Lack of wireless charging.
  • Rear camera video recording is limited to 4K at 30fps.
  • Selfie camera video recording is limited to 1080p at 30fps with no 4K option.

The POCO M8 Pro 5G stands out as an exceptional value mid-range smartphone, offering a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It boasts a huge, vibrant 120Hz AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, paired with a powerful Snapdragon 7S Gen 4 chip for smooth performance and gaming.

Users will appreciate the massive 6,500 mAh battery, which easily lasts two days and recharges fully in just 40 minutes with 100W wired charging. While it misses out on wireless charging and has some video recording limitations, its overall package of features makes it a highly recommended option for those seeking a high-end entertainment experience on a slightly higher budget, potentially being one of the best value phones in 2026.

But as a whole, this new POCO M8 series is a huge upgrade even over the previous generation and quite frankly could be the best value phones you can buy in 2026.
