Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE vs Z Flip7: Which one should you get?

Pros

  • Features a well-built, water-resistant foldable design
  • Offers premium inner display quality
  • Provides a similar good main camera quality
  • Includes the familiar Samsung software experience and support
  • Charges at the same speed as its sibling

Cons

  • Has a smaller, less advanced cover screen
  • Utilizes an older chipset with lower performance benchmarks
  • Suffers from significantly less and below-average battery life
  • Exhibits poor sustained performance due to thermal throttling
  • Its ultrawide camera is less sharp than its sibling's

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is presented as a more trimmed-down version, essentially akin to last year's Z Flip6 with an updated chip. It offers a well-built, water-resistant foldable design with premium inner displays and the familiar Samsung software experience. Its charging speed and basic main camera quality are largely identical to its more premium sibling.

However, the FE model features a smaller, less advanced cover screen, an older Exynos 2400 chipset leading to lower benchmark scores, and significantly less, below-average battery life. Both devices also suffer from poor sustained performance due to thermal throttling. Its primary advantage is its lower price point, as it brings no other real benefits over the Z Flip7.

The ZFlip 7 FE is a more trimmed down version, which is more along the lines of last year's ZFlip 6.
The ZFlip 7 FE doesn't bring any real advantages over its sibling except that it's less expensive.
With both phones, you get a very similar experience. There's a well-built, water-resistant foldable design, premium displays, and Samsung software experience and support. The charging speed is the same, and the camera quality is basically identical.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE review

Pros

  • The main camera delivers very good daytime photos with excellent detail and color.
  • All cameras, including the selfie cam, support 4K 60fps video recording.
  • The inner display offers an adaptive 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and high brightness.
  • It supports 25W fast charging and wireless charging.

Cons

  • The phone offers little reason to choose it over the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
  • The chipset is a downgrade compared to the Z Flip 6, which is often cheaper.
  • It suffers from swift and heavy thermal throttling under prolonged stress.
  • Battery life is mediocre with an active use score of just over 10 hours.
  • The cover screen has a fixed 60Hz refresh rate and lower brightness.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is presented as a more affordable foldable, with its main appeal being a lower price than the Z Flip 7. However, its design and features are nearly identical to the previous Galaxy Z Flip 6, which often comes with a superior chipset and a lower price point in many markets.

While it offers good daytime camera performance, an adaptive 120Hz inner screen, and 25W fast charging, these are overshadowed by significant drawbacks. The phone experiences swift and heavy thermal throttling, and its battery life is only mediocre.

Ultimately, the reviewer concludes that there is little reason to purchase the Z Flip 7 FE if the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is still available, especially given its better performance and potential cost-effectiveness.

Therefore, the Z Flip 7 FE struggles to justify its existence as a compelling option in the foldable market.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. It's a new Samsung foldable phone for less money than the Z Flip 7 and that's pretty much the selling point here.
The problem is the design and the features are basically one to one with last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6 except you have a bit of a downgrade in the chipset even and also in many markets the ZFlip 6 is cheaper.
So in the end if you can still find a ZFlip 6 for sale there isn't much reason to get the ZFlip 7 FE.

Samsung Z Flip 7 review 1 week later – MY BIG DILEMMA!

Pros

  • Offers the same core flip experience as the main model.
  • Camera system is identical to the Z Flip 7, including AI features.
  • Performance is snappy despite having less power.
  • Provides good value for its reduced price.

Cons

  • Features a smaller internal display.
  • Equipped with a smaller Flex Window.
  • Has a smaller battery capacity.
  • Comes with less overall power compared to the main model.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is presented as a more affordable variant, maintaining the core flip experience and sharing the camera system with its flagship counterpart, including AI capabilities.

Despite featuring a smaller internal display, Flex Window, and battery, it still delivers snappy performance with its Exynos 2400 and 8GB RAM setup.

This device offers good value, providing many premium features at a reduced price point in both the UK and US markets.

It is positioned as an excellent option for users seeking a feature-rich foldable phone without the premium cost of the main Z Flip 7 model.

It's got, I think, the exact same camera system and a bit like the Zed Flip 7, it supports all the AI stuff.
So, you're still getting a lot for your money, but less money, which is is nice.
so it's got less power as well. But it doesn't matter. It still feels snappy.

We've Hit Peak Flip Phone - Samsung Galaxy Flip7

Pros

  • More affordable price point at $900 compared to the standard model.

Cons

  • Features an older design with thick bezels.
  • Uses the older Exynos 2400 processor.
  • Exynos 2400 processor impacts AI features like "now briefing".

The Samsung Galaxy Flip7 FE is positioned as a budget-friendly option, launching at $900, making it more accessible than the standard Flip7. However, this lower price comes with some notable compromises.

It features an older design with thick bezels and is equipped with the Exynos 2400 processor, which is a downgrade from the Exynos 2500 found in the standard model. This processor difference is noted to affect certain AI functionalities, such as the "now briefing" feature.

Despite these factors, it is suggested as a viable choice for users who do not prioritize the newer "Infinity window" design or other premium features of the more expensive Flip7.

There is a Samsung Galaxy Flip7 FE which is pretty much the same thing just in the older design with the big thick bezels and it has the Exynos 2400 instead of 2500 which they say does affect some things like the now briefing AI thing that it can do.
But maybe if you don't care about the Infinity window, this would be the way to go cuz this one's going to be launching at $900.

I tested every new 2025 Samsung product!

Pros

  • It offers a $200 price saving compared to the flagship Galaxy Flip 7.

Cons

  • It features an older, slower, and less efficient Samsung Exynos chip.
  • It comes with less RAM (8GB) and storage (128GB) compared to the Z Flip 6.
  • The $200 discount is considered insufficient to justify its value.
  • The superior Z Flip 6 is available for the same $899 price.
  • Its older design appears significantly outdated compared to the newer Z Flip 7.

The Samsung Galaxy Flip 7 FE is presented as a budget-friendly alternative with a $200 saving, but this discount is deemed insufficient given its specifications and available market options.

It features older, less efficient hardware, including a slower Exynos chip, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, marking a downgrade from the Z Flip 6. A superior Z Flip 6 can be purchased new for the same $899 price point.

Furthermore, the Flip 7 FE's older design appears significantly outdated compared to the newer Z Flip 7, leading the reviewer to conclude that the phone does not offer enough value to justify its purchase.

I just I don't think the $200 discount is nearly enough of a price saving to justify this thing.
It's very easy to find the actual ZFlip 6 brand new for $899 now. And that is just straight up the superior phone.
now that the Z Flip 7 is out and it has massive improvements to the cover screen, I just feel like this older design is suddenly looking extremely outdated by comparison.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Hands-On - Watch BEFORE You Buy!

Pros

  • £200 cheaper than the regular Flip 7

Cons

  • Uses a less powerful Exynos 2400 chip
  • Equipped with less RAM (8GB)
  • Features smaller base storage (128GB)
  • Offers questionable overall value
  • Reviewer is unsure who to recommend it to

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is introduced as a more affordable option, costing £200 less than the standard Flip 7. However, this lower price point comes with significant compromises in its core specifications. It features a downgraded Exynos 2400 chip, along with reduced RAM (8 GB) and less base storage (128 GB) compared to the regular model.

The reviewer expresses uncertainty about the device's target audience and overall value proposition. It is suggested that spending the additional £200 for the full Flip 7 version, which offers better specs and longevity, is almost justified, or that a discounted Flip 6 could be a superior alternative.

It's a bit of a weird device. I'm not really sure who I'd recommend the FE2.
that alone makes it kind of worth almost spending the extra 200 to get the Flip 7 full fat version.
