The OnePlus Open, an older model from 2023, was once considered a top foldable in the US, praised for its great design. It offers competitive advantages like a larger battery, faster charging, and a generous 512GB base storage, surpassing some rivals in these aspects.
However, it comes with compromises, including an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, only IPX4 water resistance, and the absence of wireless charging. Additionally, it has limited future software updates. While not recommended at full price, it presents a compelling entry point into foldables if found at a significantly reduced cost.
“The first thing is that the OnePlus open actually gives you a bigger battery. It gives you faster charging and it comes with a base storage of 512 gigs. So, all of that is actually better than what Samsung have given us on the ZFold 7.”
“If you find it at the right price and you've never used a foldable before, then I think that this could be a really good entry point”
