Great Foldable... Bad Timing (Honor Magic V6)

Pros

  • Exceptional battery life with fast wired and wireless charging.
  • Powerful and consistently fast overall performance.
  • Very capable camera system for a foldable phone.
  • Excellent multitasking and clean Magic OS 10 experience.
  • Thin, lightweight design with a completely flat internal display when open.

Cons

  • Very high price point in a competitive market.
  • Visible and palpable screen crease.
  • Occasionally slow camera shutter in low light with zoom.
  • Unusable 100x digital zoom.
  • Challenging release timing due to anticipated competitor launches.

The Honor Magic V6 is praised as a superb and fantastic foldable phone, offering powerful performance and an impressive two-day battery life with fast charging capabilities. Its camera system is considered very capable for a foldable, and the Magic OS 10 provides excellent multitasking and a clean user experience, including unique Apple device integration.

Despite a high price point and a visible screen crease, the phone's thin design and completely flat internal display are highlights. However, its release comes at a competitive time with new foldables from Samsung and Apple on the horizon, potentially making it a less clear-cut purchase for some.

And the V6 is superb.
If you didn't buy the V5, if it just wasn't your time to upgrade, but you like the look of it, this is definitely the one to get. If you've now reached that two-year change period, get the V6. You've you've waited long enough. You're going to love this phone. It's fantastic.

This is why foldables exist

Pros

  • Exceptional battery life (battery)
  • Flagship-level camera performance for photos (camera)
  • Powerful Snapdragon processor and ample RAM for performance (performance)
  • High-quality, nearly creaseless 120Hz OLED display (screen)
  • Excellent overall hardware and durability (general)

Cons

  • Video quality is not consistently sharp and can be jittery (camera)
  • Very high expected price, estimated to be twice that of standard flagships (value)
  • Magic OS 10 software is a significant drawback due to being quirky and slow (software)
The Honor Magic V6 is considered by the reviewer as potentially the best foldable phone ever used, largely due to its exceptional hardware. It boasts an unreal 6,660 mAh battery, a flagship-level camera system (excelling in photos), a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and a fantastic, almost creaseless 8-inch OLED display. While the Magic OS 10 software is a significant drawback, described as quirky and slow, the phone's robust build and top-tier specifications make it a formidable device. Despite its expected high price, the Magic V6 offers a compelling package, establishing itself as an excellent foldable and a great phone overall.
Honestly, this might just be the best foldable phone I've ever used. And everyone else, like they might as well give up because there's no beating this.
The V6 has an unreal battery. The cameras are mostly great. The display is fantastic. Durability is an old question now because these phones, they might get beat up, but they don't break.

Honor Magic V6 - “Real Review”

Pros

  • Camera excels in zoom and offers creative foldable features.
  • Battery consistently lasts all day and charges very quickly.
  • Performance is strong for multitasking and web browsing.
  • Biometrics (face unlock, fingerprint) are excellent and super fast.
  • Gaming is highly enjoyable on the large, immersive screen.

Cons

  • Processor upgrade does not yield noticeable real-world performance improvements.
  • Display upgrades in scratch resistance, brightness, and crease are not perceptible.
  • Poor upgrade value for Honor Magic V5 owners due to minimal noticeable differences.
  • Overall incremental update, not a transformative one.

The Honor Magic V6 receives high praise, being called a "total package" and "sick" foldable device. It excels with a "dope" camera, passing zoom tests and offering creative features, alongside an all-day battery with rapid 80W fast charging.

The phone provides strong multitasking performance, excellent biometrics, and an enjoyable gaming experience on its large screen with minimal crease. However, the reviewer notes that many of its technical upgrades, including processor, display durability, brightness, and crease visibility, are not noticeably different from the Honor Magic V5 in real-world use.

Consequently, existing V5 owners are advised against upgrading, highlighting the V6 as more of an incremental update despite its many strengths.

Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm giving the Honor Magic V6 a major major major go.
This right here, this is a total fold, the total package right here.
This phone right here is just sick. All around sick.
